Eggnog Cappuccino

I have already covered the wonders of Microwave Cappuccinos, but since it is eggnog season, it’s information worth repeating. All you need is a microwave and a jar to make suitable frothed milk at home and yield a tasty cappuccino in minutes without any expensive, single use equipment. That it can be done with eggnog just makes it all the more lovely.

Eggnog Cappuccino
  • 4 ounces eggnog
  • 1 ounce Brandy
  • 2 ounces brewed espresso
  • freshly grated nutmeg
  1. Place the eggnog in a small French press and plunge for 15-30 seconds. It should increase in volume slightly and produce a foam. Alternatively, put the milk in a sealed jar and shake for 30 seconds to achieve similar results.
  2. Pour the frothed eggnog into an eight ounce microwavable mug. Microwave on high until the foam rises to the top of the mug, which will take about 1 minute. If you have a high voltage microwave, you may need to heat on a lower power to actually warm the milk through, then finish for an additional 10 seconds or so at high temperature to produce the leavened foam.
  3. Combine the Brandy and espresso in a six ounce cappuccino cup. Use a small spoon to pour just the eggnog into the cup, then top with the remaining foam and a light sprinkle of nutmeg.
