Apple Sauce

1 tablespoon butter
1 granny smith apple, peeled, cored and chopped
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup water

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the apple, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves and cook for about a minute.
  2. Stir in the water and cook until apples are tender and the mixture is thick. Gently mash to a desired consistency. Serve hot or cold.
