Old Port Restaurant
It'd been a long week, but Friday had arrived and Shannon and I decided to go out on a date. We wanted to see the 3D haunted house Imax, so we headed down to the science center in old port. It was cold and pouring rain, but we had an umbrella and each other, so all was well. We walked passed a bunch of overpriced tourist restaurants and ended up going in to the one that had the best meal deal and a decent menu.
I settled on the duck, which came with a starter salad or soup, a coffee and dessert. The soup was sort of like canned pea soup with chunky, but pureed, vegetables in it. The duck was not bad, but the side vegetables were pretty sad. The potatoes, as you might be able to see from the picture, had wrinkled up skins, but somehow hadn't been cooked all the way through. The carrots and parsnips were okay, but a little plain. We listened to Roy Orbison's greatest hits for about an hour while sitting there, which was totally getting on Shannon's nerves since she hates Roy Orbison. Our choice of desserts landed me with a really bad chocolate mousse and then we got the hell out of there as quickly as possible.
As soon as we stepped outside I went to unsheath the mighty umbrella and it broke in half and fell on the ground. We used the umbrella top to shelter us to the science center and then threw it in the garbage. We had to walk back in the rain. Despite this, we still had a good time. Luckily, I do not remember the name of the restaurant and there are too many to sort through to properly credit them for our meal.
