The Compromise
Day four of leftover Turkey and I really want to make Chili, but… I can't. Already been done, you see. I can't even make a White Chili because I've done that too. I thought about going another bean route, even though I just made the Turkey Split Pea Soup. Then I figured I could just combine both ideas and make a dish I'm going to call Texan Turkey Lentils.
This is essentially a chili crossed with a lentil soup. I found it kind of bland when I was done cooking it, so I stirred in a bit of sour cream and all of a sudden all the flavors came together. Way to go, sour cream! You're my hero. You bring ingredients together. The sour cream also helped to mellow the heat from the 3 chilies I put in it. Not only was this a nice way of using up another chunk of the turkey pot, but it's also a nice comfort food sort of dish for these cold, rainy days we've been having here. The only thing that would've made it better is a nice chunk of Cheese Bread.
