The Falafel House

On August 06, 2006 in Different Dinner Project

Technically my dinner tonight was eaten with Shannon's family at a going away barbecue for us. It involved several types of grilling, such as sausages, hot dogs and also the "Why are you doing this to your family?" variety, since we’re moving across the country. There were no visible tears shed and everything ended on a “you’ll do fine” note. Our cake was decorated with an airplane and best wishes on our new adventure. I drank too many beers and put my elbow in the cake, which yielded a cute picture of Shannon eating my icing.

Technicalities aside, I'd been craving Falafel since I first arrived in Vancouver, so I'm going to write about that instead. We'd walked by this place generically named The Falafel House that was advertising falafel and lentil soup. Well, that's one heck of a deal, I thought, so we tracked it down again to eat at.

This was far from the best falafel I've ever had, but it definitely sedated my craving. If nothing else I'd never had a falafel with hot sauce and tabouleh before, so it was definitely different. Simon’s shawarma was better, and for the sake of variety I probably should’ve went with that anyhow.

The lentil soup was salty and the lentils themselves were sparse (why hold back on lentils? They're like 10 cents a pound…) so really the whole meal was much better in my head than in actuality. Still, for 5 bucks it's hard to complain about anything.
