North Vancouver BBQ
My friend Chloe invited us out to a barbecue in celebration of one of her co-worker's birthdays. We had to hike uphill a number of blocks to get there, so I had worked up a bit of an appetite. It's a good thing too, because the food was fantastic. Every barbecue I've been to in my entire life always has the same basic food: steak, hamburgers, hot dogs and perhaps 2 kinds of salad. I can't even remember the variety of dishes here. 2 kinds of potato salad, yes, but also quinoa (which I've now learned to pronounce keen-wah), a seaweed salad, green beans and numerous other kinds of greens and other such edibles.
There was pizza cooked on the barbecue (which was nearly as good as my Barbecued Pizza, definitely having a better crust), Roasted Lamb, Spanakopita, Portobello burgers and so on and so forth. Then there was dessert! I'm accustomed to gallon pails of cheap ice cream or sheet cake, but Chloe made wonderful little fruit custard tarts. There were other desserts, but I got sidetracked eating all the blackberries when no one was around. Simon and I had to eat and run to meet another friend to watch the fireworks, but I definitely would've picked up scraps had we stuck around much longer.
