Cheerio, Liver!
Somewhat disappointingly, I did not really "cook" a dinner at all tonight. This is probably just as well or the next week of A Food Year would've ended up being hospital food, as I almost certainly would've injured myself in a drunken cooking spree resulting in burns, cuts and other types of culinary disasters involving smoke and stitches. You see, in a spur of the moment after bar decision, some friends and I decided to come back here and dispose of the contents of my liquor cabinet. The only kitchen creations tonight were some nasty shots containing ingredients like a seedless grape, Amarula and Johnny Walker scotch. I still shudder to think about it. One of them incorporated a slap in the face, presumably because we'd run out of other horrible things to incorporate into the mix. This was definitely not one of my proudest moments.
What I did eat was a bowl of Cheerios with strawberry and banana, which did little to absorb any of the alcohol in my stomach. I left work "sick" and I've spent the last couple of days recovering, which is perhaps my worst excuse so far for not updating the site. Thankfully the liquor that didn't get consumed, Frangelico and Gran Marnier, is actually useful for a few desserts I may try before we move.
