5 sheets phyllo dough
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1/4 cup bread crumbs
2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat and add the bread crumbs.
  3. Stir the apples into the bread crumbs and add the lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon. Remove from heat.
  4. Lay a single sheet of phyllo on wax paper and lightly brush with butter. Lay another sheet on top and repeat until all of the dough has been used.
  5. Spoon apple mixture into the bottom part of the phyllo about 1/4" from the edge.
  6. Carefully roll up the phyllo dough around the filling.
  7. Brush the remaining butter over the top of the roll and slice several times about 2" apart into the top.
  8. Transfer to a baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
