Liver and Onions

1 pound beef liver, sliced
1/2 cup flour
1 medium onion, sliced
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder

  1. Combine flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder and coat liver.
  2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the liver and brown on both sides, about 6 minutes total.
  3. Reduce heat to a simmer, add the onions and add 1/4 cup of the water. Cover.
  4. Gradually add in the remaining water to form a gravy consistency while the liver cooks for about 30 minutes.
