White Asparagus with Brown Butter Crumbs

1 pound white asparagus, peeled and trimmed
1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup toasted bread crumbs
salt and pepper
boiling water
- Arrange asparagus in a large skillet and season with salt and pepper.
- Add boiling water to the skillet, cover and place over medium heat.
- Meanwhile, brown butter by placing it in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Add the bread crumbs to the butter and coat. Remove from heat.
- When asparagus is tender, about 10 minutes, drain and return the spears to the skillet to remove excess moisture.
- Arrange asparagus on a plate and top with browned butter and bread crumbs.
