Old Bay Crab Cakes

1 cup bread crumbs
1 cup crab meat
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon mustard seed
1/4 teaspoon dried chili flakes
1/4 teaspoon bay leaf
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon scallions

  1. Combine sour cream, lemon juice and scallions and refrigerate while preparing crab cakes.
  2. Blend together spices and season bread crumbs.
  3. Stir together bread crumbs, crab meat and egg.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Form crumb mixture into patties and place about 4 into the skillet.
  5. Allow to brown on one side, about 5 minutes, then flip and fry for another 5 minutes.
  6. Repeat as necessary.

Makes 4 servings
