Indian Chick Peas
19 ounces canned chick peas
1 medium onion, chopped
1 bay leaf
4 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon turmeric
1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon Tamarind Chutney (optional)
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the spices to release their aromas, about 15 seconds.
- Reduce heat to medium and saute onion until tender.
- Add the chick peas, cover and continue to cook for about 15 minutes.
